How to Remove the Stereo in a 2000 Toyota Celica

The 2000 Toyota Celica was designed to be a low-cost performance car, with lots of different customisation opportunities. One of these options is the stock stereo, which can be replaced in just a short period of time with the proper tools. By replacing the stock deck, you can gain additional features not offered in 2000 for your Celica, plus improve the sound quality in the car.

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • 1/4-inch ratchet and socket set

Instructions

  1. 1

    Place the blade of the flat head screwdriver between the bezel around the gear shifter and the centre console. Twist the screwdriver to pop the bezel off of the console. Pull the bezel off of the dash and set it to the side.

    Pull the climate control knobs off of the dashboard using your hands, then remove the two Phillips head screws underneath the knobs. Remove the screws underneath the climate controls using the Phillips head screwdriver. Pull the climate control bezel towards you and off of the dashboard.

    Unbolt the head unit from the dashboard using the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the head unit out of the dash and unplug the wiring on the backside using your hands.
