Activating your iPhone 3GS to the Vodafone network is slightly different than activating a regular phone. You must use the iTunes software to activate your phone. With the SIM card, you have access to the Vodafone wireless service. Remember that you can keep your existing Vodafone number if you had a previous account with this provider. Just use the information that came with your phone to activate your account and keep your number.

Look on the back of the SIM card that came with your iPhone. Write down the number on the back of the card. You need this number to activate your phone and keep your existing Vodafone number, if you have one.
Download iTunes to your computer. Save the file to your desktop. Double-click the file and install the software. Read and accept the terms and conditions. Save the software to a folder on your computer's hard drive.
Connect your iPhone to your computer with its USB connector. Launch iTunes, or wait for it to recognise your phone. Click the "Register" button, and enter the username and password you want to use to access iTunes.
Insert the SIM card into the left side of your iPhone. Push it in until you hear a snap. This informs you that it is in.
Press the power button at the top to turn on your iPhone. Go to the online form on Vodafone's website to activate your SIM card, if you have one.
