Instructions

    How to Make a Whale

  1. 1

Glue together one large blue pom followed by two smaller blue pom poms in a row. The large pom is the head. Let dry.

  2. 2

Glue two small white pom poms underneath the two smaller blue pom poms. This is the underside of the whale. Let dry.

  3. 3

Glue on the eyes (remember to place closer to the side of the head like a real whale). Let dry.

  4. 4

Cut a small section of pipe cleaner for the mouth, and glue on below the eyes. Let dry.

  5. 5

Cut two pieces of white felt in the shape of a fin (like a bird's wing), and glue onto the opposite sides of the white pom closest to the head. Let dry.

  6. 6

Cut a piece of white felt in a "u" shape and make the top ends pointy. Glue this on the opposite end of the head to the last blue pom. This is the tail fin. Let dry.

  7. 7

Cut two small sections of pipe cleaner, and bend the tips down. Glue the straight ends to the top middle section of the second blue pom. This is water spouting from the whale. Let dry.

    How to Make an Octopus

  1. 1

Choose a large pom for the body. Glue eyes to it. Let dry.

  2. 2

Cut a small section of pipe cleaner and twist it around a nail to make a curly shape. Glue it to the front of the octopus, just below and in between the eyes. This is the octopus' nose. Let dry.

  3. 3

Cut a small section of pipe cleaner and twist it in a circle. This is the octopus' hair. Glue it on top of the large pom. Let dry.

  4. 4

Cut eight small sections of pipe cleaner, and turn up the ends slightly. Glue these to the underside of the large pom and space evenly apart. These are the octopus' legs. Let dry.

    How to Make a Fish

  1. 1

Glue together three medium-sized pom poms, followed by two small pom poms all in a row. The larger pom poms are the front of the fish. Let dry.

  2. 2

Glue on two eyes. Let dry.

  3. 3

Cut two pieces of felt in the shape of a fin (like a bird's wing), and glue onto the opposite sides of the second medium pom, closest to the head. Let dry.

  4. 4

Cut a piece of felt in a "u" shape and make the top ends pointy. Glue this on the opposite end of the head to the last small pom. This is the tail fin. Let dry.

Tips and warnings

  • Let each section dry completely before handling the pom animal or adding to it. Experiment with your own colours of pom poms, pipe cleaner and felt.
  • Paint a piece of paper or cardboard and add string, sand or other things to create an ocean background.
  • When cutting pipe cleaners be sure to place the pipe cleaner directly in the middle of the scissor blades, ensuring a clean cut.
