Finishing a basement or remodelling a house built on a concrete slab offers you a challenge when you need to secure a wall to the concrete floor. To attach the bottom stud or plate to the concrete, you need a specialised fastener designed to enter and hold into the porous cement. Although there are many types of concrete fasteners, concrete pins install quickly and hold securely. - Wood stud or metal stud rail
- Safety glasses

Place the wood stud or metal stud rail on the location of the concrete floor you need to be the wall.
Put on your safety glasses and extend the tape measure along the stud or stud rail lying on the floor. Lock the tape measure open so you can read the numbers printed of the tape's blade.
Load a concrete pin and a powder load into the powder actuated tool per the tool's operating instructions.
Place the tip of the powder actuated tool 3 inches in from one end of the stud; apply pressure toward the concrete and pull the trigger of the tool to shoot the concrete pin through the stud and into the concrete.
Eject the spent powder load and reload the powder actuated tool.
Follow down the extended tape measure 12 to 16 inches and repeat the process to secure another nail through the stud and into the concrete. Repeat the process until you have one fastener located every 12 to 16 inches along the length of the stud.
