Updated February 21, 2017

The HP Photosmart 7660 is one part of Hewlett Packard’s photo printer line-up. The 7660 is no longer made by Hewlett Packard, but fortunately the company still offers support for the printer. If you have lost the installation CD, you can download the necessary software and printer driver off HP’s website. HP actually recommends downloading the software off its website if you are using an operating system that is newer than the Photosmart 7660 to avoid performance issues.

Turn on both your computer and the Photosmart 7660. Make sure to disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer at this time.

Open your computer’s Web browser and go to Click on the “Support and Drivers” link at the top of the page, then click on “Download Drivers and Software.” In the blank window, type in “Photosmart 7660 to look up the drivers for the printer.

Select the operating system your computer is using. On the next page click on the link that says “HP Photosmart Printer Software and Driver.” This will open a download window, where you need to click on the “Save” button and choose a place on the computer’s hard drive to save the installation software. Wait for the software to finish downloading before continuing.

Find and open the installation software you saved to the computer’s hard drive. Follow the on-screen installation software instructions.

Restart the computer once you have completed all the of installation software’s instructions. Connect the USB cable to the Photosmart 7660 and the computer.
