DVDs are split into six regions corresponding to different parts of the world. Region 1 is the native to North American DVDs and DVD players. If you would like to view a DVD from a different region, you will need to buy a DVD player specific to that region or buy a region-free DVD player. To play a DVD from another region in Windows Media Player 11, you will need to change the DVD region of the DVD drive on your computer. Windows allows you to do this.
