WGA is the Windows Genuine Advantage authentication tool that is used to determine if the copy of Microsoft Windows, such as XP Pro SP3 installed on your computer, is genuine. Microsoft, from time to time, will provide an update or patch to this tool that will need to be installed on your system. You can install a Microsoft XP Pro SP3 WGA validation patch by enabling the automatic update option in the operating system or downloading the notification tool manually.

    Enable Automatic Updates

    Click the "Start" button and then go to the Control Panel.

    Double-click the "Security Center" icon. This will open the Windows Security Center.

    Double-click the file on your desktop to install the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications program on your system.

Tips and warnings

  • If your copy of windows is not genuine an image will appear on your desktop.
  • The image on your screen that appears if your copy of Windows is not genuine will not go away until you install a genuine copy of Windows.
