WGA is the Windows Genuine Advantage authentication tool that is used to determine if the copy of Microsoft Windows, such as XP Pro SP3 installed on your computer, is genuine. Microsoft, from time to time, will provide an update or patch to this tool that will need to be installed on your system. You can install a Microsoft XP Pro SP3 WGA validation patch by enabling the automatic update option in the operating system or downloading the notification tool manually.

Click the "Start" button and then go to the Control Panel.
Double-click the "Security Center" icon. This will open the Windows Security Center.
Scroll down and click the "Automatic Updates" option at the bottom of the window.
Select the "Automatic (recommended)" option. Choose when the system should check for updates by selecting the day and time from the drop-down selections.
Click the "Apply" button to save the change. Whenever there is a patch or update to WGA validation it will be automatically downloaded and applied to your system.
Click the "OK" button to close the window. Close the Windows Security Center.
Enable Automatic Updates
Go to the Genuine Microsoft Software web page (see "Resources" section for link).
Click the "Download Now" button. This will take you to the Windows Genuine Notifications download page.
Click the "Download" button. Click the "Save File" button when the pop-up window appears on the screen. Save the file to a location such as your desktop.
Double-click the file on your desktop to install the Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications program on your system.

Tips and warnings
- If your copy of windows is not genuine an image will appear on your desktop.
