Applying ribbon to a cake covered in fondant can add a touch of elegance. You don't have to rely on a bakery to add this special accent; it can be done in your home kitchen.
Bake the cake according to the recipe, and cover it with fondant.
Attach the beginning of the ribbon with a decorative pin, such as one with a pearl or a flower on the end.
Wrap the ribbon around the cake, and keep it taut.
Continue to wrap the ribbon around the cake, adding decorative pins every 7.5 to 10 cm (3 to 4 inches).
Remove the first pin, and place the end of the ribbon over the other end. Replace the pin.
