PS2 is an older mouse and keyboard connector format that is slowly being phased out in favour of the newer USB connector. The PS2 connector has a unique design: a round plug with 4 or 6 metal pins inside. A USB connector is rectangular and has metal plates that make a contact when the connector is plugged in. The only way to convert a PS2 mouse to USB is to use a converter plug.
