How to Connect the Sky Plus Box With an HD Ready TV Cable

Updated February 21, 2017

Sky Plus is a satellite television subscription service available in the United Kingdom. Services include high-definition satellite TV programming with an HD receiver the company calls a Sky Plus Box. The receiver hooks up to an HDTV with a high definition media interface (HDMI) cable that delivers picture and sound in a single connection. HDMI is a good choice for the best possible video and audio because it transmits a high-definition image and up to eight channels of digital audio.

Insert the six-sided plug on one end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI OUT socket labelled on the back of the Sky Plus Box. The HDMI plug inserts in one direction only, with the wider end of the plug turned upward.

Push the plug on the other end of the cable into the HDMI IN socket labelled on the back of the HDTV.

Turn on the Sky Plus Box and the HDTV, then use the Sky Box remote control to complete the set-up and adjust the receiver to personal preferences. Make choices from the on-screen menu using the up and down arrow keys and "Enter" button on the Sky Plus Box remote control.

Disconnect the Sky Plus Box and the HDTV while connecting the HDMI cable.
