The battery of the Audi Q7--as well as the battery on many other Audi models, including the A3, A4, A6 and A8--is located in the firewall of the vehicle. The battery tray is universal for these car models, allowing for fairly easy access to the battery. When you must service or replace the battery on the Audi Q7, you can remove it in about 30 minutes and save the expense and time of having your battery taken out by someone else.
Locate the rubber strip seal on top of the firewall of the Audi Q7, and pull the strip away from the firewall by hand.
Lift the tray that fits into the firewall, and pull it out toward the engine.
Detach the screws on the plastic passenger windshield cover on top of the firewall, using a Phillips-head screwdriver, and unfasten the bolt on the cover with a socket wrench.
Remove the cover from the firewall, and locate the battery on the passenger side of the firewall.
Unfasten the battery cables from the battery, using an open-end wrench, and remove the battery from the Audi's engine compartment.
