How to Add the Freecorder Toolbar to Internet Explorer 8

Freecorder (developed and distributed by Applian Technologies) is an audio recording program. Unlike some other programs, Freecorder allows you to record audio playing anywhere on your computer (media player, web browser, stream link, etc). When installing the program, you're given an option of adding the Freecorder Toolbar to your browser. The Freecorder Toolbar is compatible with Internet Explorer 8; it's also free to download and use.

    Download the Freecorder program. Visit "" and click "Download Now."

    Click "Run" when the dialogue box pops up. Wait for the program to download. Click on "Next," and then click "Start Install."

    Read over the terms and conditions. Click "I agree," and then "Continue."

    Install the Freecorder Toolbar. When the screen displays "Install into web browser," click the check box next to "Internet Explorer."

    Click "Next," and then click "Finish." Close your browser window.

    Restart Internet Explorer 8. The Freecorder Toolbar will be visible below the menu bar.

Tips and warnings

  • To record audio with Freecorder, click on "Record Audio," and then begin playing your the sound byte or video on your computer. When it's finished, click "Stop." To save your recording, click "Convert." Choose your file type output (MP3, WMV, AAC, etc.), name the file and click "Save."
