Going from red to blond hair can give you a new hairstyle while keeping your current hairstyle's bulk or length. Instructions

  1. 1

    Wet hair completely.

  2. 2

Mix equal parts of daily hair shampoo and hair powder bleach in a hair colour bowl.

  3. 3

Put on latex gloves to protect your hands from the bleach.

  4. 4

Use your hands and a hair colour brush to apply the bleach mixture to the hair, from root to tip. You may find that the hair near the roots lightens quicker, so you should apply the mixture to the roots last.

  5. 5

Work the mixture throughout the hair.

  6. 6

Stand in front of a mirror and watch the hair colour change in the mirror. Do this for 15 minutes to half an hour. Depending on how blond you would like the hair to be, you should wait for the hair to become a light brown to medium blond colour. If you are unable to achieve this with the shampoo mixture, you will need to apply a mixture of equal parts powder bleach and hair colour activator for about 30 minutes.

  7. 7

Rinse the hair completely. Do not condition.

  8. 8

Pour equal parts of blond hair colour toner and hair colour toner activator into a applicator bottle. Shake it to mix the products. The colour of blond hair colour toner that you use at this point will need to be more ashy than the blond colour you want to achieve. The hair will still have red and other warm undertones due to its initial redness.

  9. 9

Apply the toner mixture onto the hair with the bottle and your hands. Make sure you still have the latex gloves on.

  10. 10

Watch the hair carefully after you put the toner on it. The hair will be very porous due to the bleach and shampoo treatment and may change colour very quickly.

  11. 11

Completely rinse the hair immediately after it has changed to the desired colour.

  12. 12

    Condition and style.
