Many home poker players like a table with recessed drink holders. Drink holders keep beverages from being tipped easily, and help prevent spills that could otherwise stop play, make a big mess, ruin cards and make poker chips sticky for the rest of the night. Building a poker table with recessed drink holders is a good project for poker players with woodworking skills.

Instructions

  1. 1

Order plans for a poker table. Poker tables come in two different sizes. Smaller round or rectangular tables are used for stud poker games. Larger oval poker tables are used for Texas Hold-em poker games.

  2. 2

Build the table according to plans up to the point where foam will be applied to the tabletop. At this point the builder will have cut two pieces of plywood or fiberboard. One piece will be the playing surface. The other piece will be the armrest that will attach to the outside edge of the playing surface.

  3. 3

Use the measuring tape and a pencil to mark six equidistant points on a smaller table or 10 equidistant points on a larger table. Each of these points will identify a position for a player.

  4. 4

Attach the pencil to the rotating compass. Use the rotating compass to scribe a 3 1/8-inch circle at each point marked in the previous step.

  5. 5

Attach a wood cutting blade to the jigsaw. Place a half-inch drill bit in the cordless drill. Drill a hole in each scribed 3 1/8-inch circle. Use the jigsaw to cut the 3 1/8-inch circle starting at the drilled hole. There will now be a piece of plywood or fiberboard with either six or 1- 3 1/8-inch circles cut from the playing surface.

  6. 6

Attach the foam to the playing surface with a staple gun according to the instructions on the poker table plans. Use scissors to cut foam away from the 3 1/8-inch circles.

  7. 7

Attach felt to the playing surface with a staple gun according to the instructions on the poker table plans. Use the scissors to cut felt away from the 3 1/8-inch circles.

  8. 8

Attach the foam and vinyl to the armrest with a staple gun according to the instructions on the poker table plans. Attach the armrest to the outer edge of the poker table playing surface with wood screws and a screw driver. Attach legs to the poker table.

  9. 9

Place cup holders in the 3 1/8-inch circles on the poker table playing surface.
