How to convert MP3 audio to text

Updated April 17, 2017

The technology of converting automated audio to text is still in its infancy, but there is one piece of software that can do it. The software, Wave to Text, is a speech recognition pad that runs in Windows 95 and higher releases. Wave to Text only accepts WAV audio files, so you must convert your MP3 to WAV before you can convert your audio to text. Let's get started!

Open your MP3 file in Windows Media Player. This is free and able to convert to WAV.

Go to "File>Save As..." and select an output location.

Under the "Type" drop down menu select "WAV" and click "Save."

Open Wave to Text.

Go to "File>Import" and select the WAV file you just converted from MP3.

The program fills the large white box in the window with the text from your audio file. Copy and paste the text to your favourite text editing program for further editing.
