If you would like to play a movie on your laptop, or need to show a presentation and don't have an external monitor to watch it on, the simple solution is to hook your laptop to your TV. Although it isn't difficult, it does require the correct adaptors and cables to make it work correctly.

Instructions

    Buy a VGA/SVGA monitor replacement cable. There are several stores that you can purchase them from online including Amazon.com, PCConnectionExpress.com and Overstock.com. You can also find them at office supply or big-box stores. Both sides of the cable are male and will plug into the female receivers on the computer and LCD TV.

    Connect your computer to the LCD TV with one end of the cable, and plug the other end into the LCD TV.

  3. 3

    Hit the "Input" button on your LCD TV and select computer. You should now be getting a picture on the TV of whatever is on your computer screen.
