Determine the most appropriate place for installing solar panels on the roof. The best spot for the panels is one that receives a good amount of sunlight. Also, before you install the brackets, figure out how much the solar panels will need to be tilted and in what direction. Tilting the panels is important for ensuring maximum absorption of sunlight.
Locate the rafters on your house roof. You can use your house blueprints to do this. If they are unavailable, you can use a stud finder instead. Upon locating the rafters, mark the exact spots where the solar brackets are to be installed using a chalk.
Place the mounting brackets on top of each rafter you marked. Make sure there is a distance of at least 4 feet between each bracket.
Drill holes into each rafter where you want to mount the brackets.
Now insert steel bolts through the brackets and into the drilled holes to fasten the brackets to the roof and rafters. Tightly secure the bolts using a socket wrench. Once the brackets are installed, you can fasten solar panels to them and connect them to the solar inverter in your home.
