Files with the RAR extension are compressed archives using the file compression utility WinRAR. If you have a RAR file that you need to send to someone who may not have WinRAR installed or know how to use it, recompress the file as a ZIP archive using WinRAR. The ZIP format is supported natively by Windows, and the recipient can open the file without installing third-party software as long as he is running Windows XP or later.
