Use a jigsaw or a table saw to cut the pieces of wood. Cut two 4-inch x 4-inch pieces and eight 4-inch x 1 1/2-inch pieces.
Make a dovetail joint. Use a router and a dovetail jig to make the joint for all four corners of the box, top and bottom.
Line up the wood pieces so they fit firmly together. Apply wood glue to fasten the joint and use a clamp to hold the pieces together as they dry.
Attach the top and bottom pieces to the sides with wood glue once they have dried. Clamp them while they dry.
Use stain, varnish or paint to decorate the wood pieces. Apply an additional coat once the pieces are dry. Finish the wood by adding a coat of clear finish and allow it to dry.
Use small screws to attach hinges to the back side of the bottom and top of the box. Be sure the two pieces are aligned when closing and opening the box.
Create the holder. Cut a rectangular piece of metal 3 3/4 inches x 1 1/2 inches x 1-inch (thick). Also cut a piece of metal 4 inches x 4 inches. Remove a rectangular portion from the rectangular piece measuring 1 centimetre x 1 centimetre from the centre. Make 1-inch diagonal cuts at the corners of the rectangular piece. Fold cardboard around the rectangular piece at the end of each of the cuts. Cut the extra cardboard until it makes a 90 degree corner. Glue the cardboard down at its edges and allow it to dry. Cover the rectangular piece in fabric and attach it on the back with hot glue.
Glue the rectangle into the box. Place the rectangular piece of metal inside of the four walls of the box so that it forms a level surface, and use hot glue around the edges to secure it.
Cut a 1 1/4 inch x 3 1/2 inch piece of metal. Cover this piece with foam and then wrap it with fabric to form a soft pillow-like object. Place the watch on top of this piece and then place them both into the centre of the box.
