If you have an HP Photosmart All-in-One printer and have misplaced the installation disc or bought the unit used without the disc, you can still install the printer on your computer and use it the way it is intended. With most operating systems you will be able to download the needed components from the Internet and install them on your computer.

Unplug the printer from the computer.
Go to the Hewlett-Packard website at http://www/hp.com. Click on "Support & Drivers" from the top menu. This will take you to the next page, which has a series of steps to follow.
Select "Download drivers and software" in Step 1. In Step 2, enter the name and model number of the printer. For example, the name and model number may be HP Photosmart 7550. If you do not know the model number of your printer, look in the lower right-hand corner on the front of the printer, or on the top of the printer in the left-hand corner or in the upper left-hand corner. Click "Go" to the next page.
Select the operating system that you are using from the list on the next page, such as Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Vista, Microsoft XP, Mac OS X or Linux. Click on the operating system to go to the next page.
Select the basic drivers or the full software and drivers to download. After you select the option that you need, it will take you to the next page.
Select the "Download Only" button at the top of the page. Click the "Save" button that appears in the pop-up. Save the file to your desktop. After the file is downloaded, go to the desktop and click the file to start the installation process.
Follow all commands and prompts to install the drivers and/or software. When the drivers are done installing, you will be prompted to plug the printer into the computer and finish installation.
