The .45 ACP round loaded with Golden Saber bullets is an excellent choice for personal defence and tactical situations. These bullets were developed specifically for law enforcement and use a jacket made entirely of cartridge brass, not copper gilding over metal. The bullet is available in .451-diameter, 185-grain and 230-grain jacketed hollow point.

Instructions

Reloading Data for .45 ACP Using Golden Sabers

  1. 1

Use the following reloading data with care, carefully working up to the recommended charge weights by beginning with loads 10-percent lighter than recommended. Provided in the following tables are: bullet diameter and weight, powder name, recommended maximum powder weight charge (Wt. Grs.) and expected muzzle velocity measured in feet-per-second (Mzl. Vel.) measured from a five-inch pistol barrel.

    Case data for .45 ACP

  1. 1

Measure all cases before reloading and trim if necessary so they meet recommended case length (trim-to-length). Cases measuring longer than the recommended maximum case length should be discarded as they have stretched and reduced the case wall thickness.

  2. 2

Seat the bullet in the case so that the maximum cartridge length does not exceed recommended measurements. Use only recommended primers.

  3. 3

Maximum Case Length: 0.898 inches Trim-To-Length: 0.888 inches Maximum Cartridge length: .275 inches Primers: CCI 300

Tips and warnings

  • Make a range log to keep track of reload performance and record such information as bullet accuracy, signs of pressure, bullet velocity (If known), bullet weight after recovery and feed problems.
  • Compare various bullet loads, using the data contained within your range log, to determine which load works best in your gun.
  • Use safety glasses when reloading ammunition.
  • Do not exceed recommended powder weight charges.
  • Do not reduce powder charges three grains below recommended maximum.
  • Use only recommended primers.
  • After firing reloaded ammunition on the range, examine the primer on each fired case. If the primer is pushed out or damaged in any way, reduce your powder charge by .5 grain.
  • Do not store primers in any container other than the container they came in.
  • Do not reload ammunition around an open flame or heat source.
