MINI currently offers SIRIUS Satellite Radio as a factory installed option in the Cooper, Cooper S, Clubman and Clubman S models. For MINI owners who would prefer to listen to XM Satellite Radio, there are several options available. When converting, from the MINI Factory installed SIRIUS Satellite Radio, to XM you will have to choose between limited XM channels and new equipment.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Enrol in the "Best of XM" featuring NHL Home Ice, XM Public Radio, MLB Home Plate, The PGA Tour Network, Oprah Radio, The Virus, The Indycar Series, NBA and College Sports channels through your SIRIUS subscription.

  2. 2

Join the "Premium Online Service" and use the SIRIUS|XM app for Smartphones. Smartphones, with the app, can stream SIRIUS programming when they have established Internet access. Connecting the Smartphone to the MINI can be accomplished through an iPod adaptor, auxiliary input or FM transmitter, depending on the MINI model and stereo.

  3. 3

Install an XM Satellite Radio. There are two different radios dedicated for in-vehicle use from XM and several multi-location units that can also be used in a MINI. Depending on the year and model of the MINI stereo, the XM Satellite Radios may be capable of wiring directly into the factory stereo. If the XM receiver cannot be installed directly to the factory stereo, it could be integrated through an iPhone/USB adaptor, FM transmitter or auxiliary input.
