Check the headlights on your 2003 Ford Mondeo periodically to make sure that the headlights are functioning properly. Ideally, you would change the headlights during the day. There is no specific service life for the Mondeo's headlights and they can burn out at any time. Replacement headlights can be purchased from most auto parts stores. You'll need to ask the store clerk which manufacturers the store carries. Not all auto parts stores carry all brands of replacement headlights for the 2003 Mondeo.

  1. 1

Open the hood and turn the two plastic fittings on the top of the grille counterclockwise and remove them.

  2. 2

Remove radiator grille by pulling it straight up. Now that the fittings are removed, it should come out easily.

  3. 3

Lift up on the two "L" shaped retaining pins that hold the headlight housing in place. Remove the headlight assembly.

  4. 4

Disconnect the power connector from the back of the headlight.

  5. 5

Pull the retaining clip off the back of the headlight and remove the headlight from the assembly.

  6. 6

Slide the replacement headlight into the housing and secure it to the headlight housing by sliding the retaining clip over the collar of the headlight. The rest of the installation is the reverse of removal.

Tips and warnings

  • Do not touch the glass portion of the headlight with your fingers as the oils from your fingers could cause the headlight to explode when you turn the headlights on.
