How to Make Baby Felt Shoes
Several pairs of baby shoes. (at the nursery image by Eric Isselée from Fotolia.com)

Babies grow out of everything so quickly it can seem pointless to spend the money on shoes they may not need if they aren't walking and will grow out of in a matter of weeks. Instead of buying pricey baby shoes, make your own baby shoes out of felt. They're inexpensive to create and give you the opportunity to give your baby a pair to match each outfit.

Instructions

  1. 1

Download the template from the link in the Resource section. Enlarge the template so it is 1/4-inch larger than the baby's foot. Cut out the template pieces.

  2. 2

Pin the template pieces to wool felt and cut out. Make the heel seam by folding the top piece in half and stitching along the straight edge.

  3. 3

Pin the top of the shoe to the sole with a straight pin. Remove the pin and sew the pieces together. Turn it inside out so the seams are hidden.

  4. 4

Glue rickrack or another decorative ribbon on the inside of the inset as decoration.

  5. 5

    Sew snaps on the straps.
