If you have saved contact information on your cell phone, a common task that arises is converting the cell phone contacts to Outlook contact format. By converting and storing your cell phone contact information into Outlook, you will avoid potential data loss in the event your cell phone is lost, stolen or destroyed.

    Connect the cell phone to your computer using a USB cable configured to fit your phone.

    Follow the steps on the cell phone transfer utility menu that appears on your computer screen to export the phone contacts to comma separated file format, or CSV. If you do not have a cell phone conversion utility on your computer, you can find and download a conversion utility on the Internet.

    Open the Outlook program and click on the "File" pulldown menu. Click on the "Import and Export" option and select the "Import from another program" option. Choose "CSV" as the type of file that you want to import, and then choose "Next."

    Click the "Browse" button and find the CSV file that came from your cell phone. Once you have found the file, click "Next."

    Select the folder whee you want the imported data. In this case, it would be the "Contacts" folder. Click "Next," and then "Import."
