How to Reset the Maintenance Service Light on a Land Rover LR3

Updated March 23, 2017

The maintenance service light on a Land Rover LR3 illuminates when service is required on the vehicle. The LR3 uses an on-board diagnostic computer to generate and store trouble codes that trigger the service light. Once the service has been performed, you need to know how to reset the maintenance service light. If you do not reset the maintenance light, it will stay on. While nothing bad will happen if you leave the light on, you might want to reset the light so that you can accurately keep track of your maintenance requirements.

Hold down the reset button on the dashboard to reset the LR3's trip counter. Keep holding the reset button down even after the trip counter has cleared.

Turn the ignition key to the "II" position on the ignition.

Continue holding the reset button for five seconds until a new menu appears on the digital display.

Let go of the reset button and press the reset button again until the option "rst" appears.

Press the reset button again and your maintenance light will reset and shut off.
