How to Clean Polycarbonate Glasses

Updated February 21, 2017

Polycarbonate glasses are durable and scratch resistant. These glasses are ideal for people who work in industrial environments, like construction. The glass of the lenses itself is not scratch resistant, but the coating placed over them is extremely hard. Like all other glasses, however, they need to be cleaned on a daily basis and cared for properly.

Put the lenses in the hot, soapy water.

Rub the glasses gently between your thumb and first finger with a back-and-forth motion to remove all dirt, grime, and residue.

Shake off as much water as possible and dry the lenses with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.

Keep the glasses in a well-cushioned, hard case.

Cleaning every day helps maintain the lenses' scratch-resistant coating. If the coating becomes damaged, the lenses themselves will scratch.

Things You'll Need

  • Hot, soapy water
  • Soft microfiber cloth
