How to Completely Uninstall McAfee From a Computer

McAfee is a company dedicated to technological security, providing many familiar services such as antivirus and antispyware software. This software is commonly found on many computers as pre-installed software as a trial version, and is regarded as one of the leading companies in the antivirus business. However, for some users there will come the inevitable need to uninstall the program. Sometimes it will not work completely, but removing the program from your computer completely is rather simple.

Click "Start," then click "Control Panel," and open the "Add/Remove Programs" utility. Find your McAfee product, and click "Change/Remove." At the prompt, select the services you wish to uninstall, then click "Remove."

Use McAfee's Automatic tool. Download this application from the website. Run this utility to remove all traces of the McAfee product from your system. This only applies to certain programs, so check to make sure the product you are using will be affected.

Remove McAfee Security Services to allow you to uninstall the program. This method should be considered if you are seeing the following error: "In order to uninstall McAfee SecurityCenter, you need to uninstall all McAfee Security Services first."

Open "My Computer," navigate inside your C drive, open the "Program Files" folder, then "," then "agent," and finally "app." Looks for any files that have the .adf file extension and delete them all. When you have finished, go back to "Add/Remove Programs" and uninstall McAfee.
