If you connect to the Internet via landline, the modem for the Internet is most likely built directly into the computer. However, if you want to connect multiple landline modems to a single phone line, you need to have a second connection. Instead of having a technician from the phone company stop by and install a second line, you can add a splitter to the current phone line. This gives you a second jack and allows two different modems the ability to connect to the phone.

Things you need
- Phone-jack splitter
- 2 phone-line cables
Remove the current phone-line cable from the phone jack.
Connect the phone-line splitter to the phone jack. This gives you two different line connections from the same jack.
Insert a phone-line cable into each of the two phone-line ports. Push the cable in until you hear a click. Tug on the line gently, and if it does not fall out, it is connected properly.
Plug the other end of the cables into the Internet modems. As with the other ends of the cables, push these in until you hear a click.
Power on the computers, and launch your Internet browser. You can now begin surfing the Internet.
