Updated February 21, 2017

A noisy rocker recliner becomes annoying over time and the noise will not go away on its own. Friction on moving parts is the problem behind a noise that will not stop. The problem squeak is easy to isolate and fix because there are not many moving parts to a recliner. Raise the footrest to the upright position.

Place newspaper on the floor and lay the recliner on its side. Newspaper will protect the floor or carpet from overspray.

Spray a lubricant on the joints and places that the springs rub against metal. Wipe off any excess spray.

Return the rocker to the upright position and lower the footrest.

Test the rocker and recliner and listen for squeaks. Repeat the steps if the noise persists.
