Vinyl seat cushions are used in many different places, such as boats and outdoor furniture. Since the material is created to resist moisture and stains, you cannot paint it with regular fabric paint. Instead, you must get a specially formulated spray paint that contains a maximum strength adhesion promoter. The vinyl-safe spray paint dries quickly and creates a bond with the vinyl that won't crack, chip or flake away.

Things you need
- Clean rags
- Vinyl spray paint in colour of your choice
Use a wet rag to wipe down the vinyl seat cushion to make sure it is clean. Dry it with another clean rag.
Spread newspaper where you plan to paint; choose a well-ventilated area such as outdoors or in an open garage. Lay the vinyl seat cushion over the newspaper.
Shake the canister of vinyl-safe spray paint, which you can buy in a hardware or home improvement store. Hold the nozzle of the can about a foot away from the vinyl cushion, and spray the paint in circular, fluid motions to distribute it evenly over the cushion. Allow the pain to dry completely according to the directions on the can; this usually takes about 30 minutes.
Flip the seat cushion over when it is completely dry, and repeat Step 3 to paint the other side. Make sure the sides of the cushion also are coated in colour. Allow to dry.
