Acrylic nails, also known as artificial nails, are for individuals looking to add glamour and flair to their personal style. Sometimes called fake nails, acrylic nails can be purchased at a chemist and applied with accompanying adhesive. However, this method does not usually produce remarkable results. Because of this, people who desire long, shiny nails often turn to a nail technician to apply liquid acrylic nails on their fingernails in a salon. Nail techs charge from £13 and up for an acrylic nail job that produces superior results. Acrylic liquid kits are also sold that make it possible to make your own acrylic liquid nails.

Most beauty supply stores carry liquid acrylic nail kits, and they may also be purchased online. Acrylic liquid and acrylic powder in the kits are mixed to create the strong binding finish, which makes acrylic nails popular. Most kits do not include a nail buffer, but one should be purchased because it will come in handy. Purchase desired nail tips sized to fit natural fingernail tips.
Clean fingernails and push back cuticles. This is easier to do after a shower. Trim uneven fingernails with manicure scissors, and dry your hands and nails thoroughly.
Glue the acrylic fingernail tip onto nail using nail adhesive. The line where the tip joins the nail will be visible, but the acrylic liquid will cover it in the next step. Choose to do one hand at a time or all fingers in succession.
Gently brush off any powder and excess adhesive from nail tips. Proceed to follow liquid acrylic kit directions by adding acrylic powder to acrylic liquid in the dappen dish, which should be included in the nail kit. Drop a small bead of mixture onto the nail and continue until fine line is filled.
Once the acrylic has dried, gently buff and paint with nail polish.
