The Action Replay systems are simple and efficient ways to add cheat codes to games that don't have any. These codes make the games easier to play. Many of these codes are available on the Internet and are easy to add to your Action Replay system using the intuitive software. Thus, you can create your own custom code batches. You can then alter the game to do almost anything you want it to.

  1. 1

Insert the USB cable into the Action Replay device and into an open USB port on your computer. If the computer prompts you to install drivers, close and ignore that message.

  2. 2

Insert the Action Replay disc into the CD drive and install the software. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the software. If you have already installed the software, skip this step.

  3. 3

    Launch the Code Manager software.

  4. 4

Click "Software Update" to install any changes, bringing you to the latest version of the software. Click "Yes" to download the update.

  5. 5

Create a new code list by clicking the "New Codelist" button. Find the game you'll be playing in "My Subscriptions," then drag and drop it into your code list.

  6. 6

Right-click the game title and select "Add new Cheat." A cheat details window will appear.

  7. 7

Locate and input some codes for your game (see Resources section). Copy and paste those codes into the "Cheat Details" window, then give it a name you will remember.

  1. 1

Insert Action Replay into the DS console and turn it on.

  2. 2

Tap the "Settings" button with your stylus. It's a blue button with a wrench on it.

  3. 3

Use the Directional Pad to select the codes you want to play your game with. Turn them on and off with "A" and "B." When finished, tap "Go" on the touch screen.

  4. 4

Remove the Action Replay and insert the game you're going to play when prompted. Your game will start with the codes preloaded into it.

Tips and warnings

  • Action Replay devices have an internal flash drive and limited storage space. You may want to clear the memory out periodically to add more room to the device.
  • Programming codes is a difficult and time-consuming process, and most are already available online. The best way to program them is with the trainer toolkit (see Resources section).
  • The Action Replay device is not officially endorsed by Nintendo, and use may cause permanent damage to your saved files.
  • Action Replay devices that care compatible with the DS and DS Lite are not compatible with the new DSi.
