The subscriber identity module (SIM) is a small card that inserts into devices with preformatted information. SIM cards have several advantages for both the carrier and the phone users. Storage space is allocated on the card for information including subscriber details, authentication data and phone book contacts. By inserting a SIM card into an iPhone, you may import contacts directly to the phone book application on the phone.
Turn on your old phone and enter the phone book application.
Click on the menu key and select "Save Contact Information to SIM Card." The exact process will depend on the phone. If you are unsure of the correct method, refer to your User's Guide for the old phone. Many phones use Windows Mobile and will have the option under on the menu for the phone book application. Most applications require you to save each contact individually to the SIM card.
Locate the SIM eject tool that came with your iPhone. This tool will open the SIM tray on your phone. Refer to the instructions with your phone to insert the card.
Turn on the iPhone.
Tap the Settings menu on the home page. The icon has gears on it.
Scroll down and select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" from the Settings menu.
Navigate to the bottom of the options available on this screen. Tap "Import SIM contacts."
Let the application install contacts from your SIM card to your iPhone.
