How Do I Print Out Row Numbers for My Excel Spreadsheet?

Updated February 23, 2018

Microsoft Office Excel is a widely used spreadsheet program that is useful for keeping track of numerical data. The program displays row numbers when you are editing the speadsheet on the computer but does not automatically include the row numbers when you print out the spreadsheet. The steps you need to take to include the row numbers when you print depend on your version of Excel. Once you have adjusted the page settings, the row numbers will print automatically.

Select the worksheet whose row numbers you want to print. If you want to have row numbers print on multiple worksheets, you must repeat the process for each worksheet.

Click "Page Layout" from the options across the top of the screen.

Locate the "Sheet Options" subgroup, which will be the fourth subgroup from the left.

Click the box next to "Print" under "Headings" to turn on the row and column titles for printing for the worksheet.
