Microsoft PowerPoint is a popular type of presentation software. PowerPoint allows users to create slide shows where they can customise practically anything, such as slide transitions, animations and themes. One popular feature of PowerPoint is the ability to use master slides. Master slides create a template for an entire presentation, such as fonts, colours and backgrounds. PowerPoint allows users to either use stock master slides or to create their own.

Instructions

  1. 1

Open a new, blank PowerPoint presentation.

  2. 2

Click on the “View” tab in the Office menu bar and then select “Slide Master.” This puts you in slide master view mode.

  3. 3

Edit the slide master, which is basically a template. Customise the template the same way you would change settings on any regular presentation. The only difference is that your changes will create a template for future presentations.

  4. 4

Click on the Office button and select “Save as” when finished customising the slide master.

  5. 5

Type in your desired template name.

  6. 6

Select “Template” from the “Save as type” drop-down menu.

  7. 7

Click “Save” to finish saving the slide master.
