How to convert keynote to Powerpoint

Updated February 21, 2017

Keynote, a part of the iLife suite of applications, is Apple's presentation software program. Like Microsoft PowerPoint, it allows users to create slideshow-type presentations. Keynote files have the file extension .KEY, while PowerPoint files have the file extension .PPT. Though users can open PowerPoint files directly through Keynote, they cannot open Keynote files in PowerPoint. To open and edit Keynote files in PowerPoint, users must convert Keynote files to the PowerPoint format by using the Keynote "Export" feature.

Open the file in Keynote by double-clicking on it.

Go to the "File" menu and select "Export."

Convert the Keynote file to PowerPoint. Select the "PPT" tab from the top of the window and press the "Next" button. Enter a name and save location, such as the "Documents" folder, for the converted file and press "Export."
