How to Extend a Windows Desktop to Another Computer

Extending your desktop onto another computer within your home network can enable you to increase your productivity by providing you with more "real estate" from which to work. This can allow you to perform multiple full screen functions at the same time, such as navigating web pages while typing in a word processor. This requires the use of freeware to connect the two computers across the network. The set-up itself should take less than 30 minutes.

Things you need

  • ZoneOS freeware (linked below)
  • Another networked computer

    Download and install ZoneOS Zone Screen or another free desktop extending software program.

    Open ZoneOS and select the option to "Extend my Desktop" to another screen.

  3. 3

    Select the network computer to which you would like to extend your computer desktop from the list of networked computers that appear onscreen.

  4. 4

    Restart both computers to complete the operation.
