The line-in port on your computer allows you to connect a microphone or other outside audio source. However, most computers only have a single line-in jack. If you need multiple audio devices connected to your computer, you must add additional line-in jacks to the computer. To do this, you can convert one of your USB ports into a line-in jack.

- Driver installation CD
Purchase a USB-to-line-in adaptor from an online retailer or computer products store.
Plug the USB-to-line-in jack adaptor into an available USB port on the computer. The adaptor typically also has a line-out jack for speakers.
Inset the driver installation CD provided with your adaptor into the CD drive of the computer.
Accept the license agreement and follow the brief set of prompts to complete the driver installation. Leave the prompts as the default settings.
Connect a microphone or any other audio device to the line-in port on the adaptor.
