You do not have to worry about the weather and outside elements when it comes to the interior of your car, but you do have to worry about shoes and packages scraping against interior doors. You also may have a problem with children and pets scratching your car seats. You can repair scratches to your interior car doors with a plastic filler, and you can fix scratches on your vinyl seats with a vinyl repair kit.
Clean the interior car door with washing up liquid and warm water mixed in a bucket. Dip a sponge in the solution, and clean the area where there are scratches.
Apply plastic filler to the scratches on the interior car door with a 5 cm (2 inch) putty knife. Smear the plastic filler putty on the scratch, and smooth it out with the putty knife. Be sure to fill the entire length of the scratch with the plastic filler.
Remove any excess plastic filler putty with the utility knife. Cut the filler from around the edges of the scratch, and lift it off with your fingers. Allow the plastic filler to harden for 24 hours.
Smooth the scratch with a coarse 50-grit sandpaper. Smooth the edges to make the scratch even with the remainder of the door.
Apply a tiny amount of car wax to a clean soft cloth, and buff the scratch you just filled in with the plastic filler putty.
Remove any excess wax with a clean soft cloth, and repeat this process for other scratches.
Vinyl filler kit
Clean the scratch on the vinyl seat or seat back by wiping it off with a damp cloth.
Mix the resin and catalyst included with the vinyl repair kit to form a creamy paste.
Apply the vinyl filler to the scratch on the vinyl seat with a cotton swab. Smooth it out around the scratch with your fingers.
Remove excess vinyl filler with a plastic scraper. Be careful not to gouge the seat with the scraper. Allow the vinyl filler 24 hours to dry.
Wear rubber gloves if you have sensitive skin.
