Tribal hair is difficult to define because there are as many tribal hair style options as there are people. When we use the term "tribal" in relation to hairstyles, we tend to think of Native American, African, or exotic belly dancers. Learn to create common characteristics so you can design a tribal hairstyle that is both unique to you and still essentially "tribal."

Things you need
- Hair extensions attached to ribbons
- Hair extensions attached to clips
- Rubber bands
- Head band that ties at the back of the neck
- Hair clips
- Decorative clips
- Decorative sticks
- Feathers (optional)
- Flowers (optional)
Tie your hair high atop your head in two pigtails or, for longer hair, a single ponytail. As you pull your hair through the last loop in the rubber band, stop half way through so you have a poofy loop in your hair. If you have fringe, leave them out of the rubber band. You can tie them back, curl them, or sweep them to the side later when the hairstyle is finished.
Tie the hair extensions that are attached to ribbons to the ponytail. Be sure to tie the ribbons at the underside of the rubber band.
Wrap the headband around your head and tie it into place. Use hair clips to anchor the headband in place.
Arrange the poof of hair on top of your head by spreading it out and pinning it into shape. Pin it down with a variety of tools and pins. Use decorative pins to create the shape of your poof and hair clips to catch stray pieces and secure the poof into place on your head.
Place the hair extensions that are attached to clips at the sides of your head. Clip them into place above the headband. If you have additional extensions, add them evenly around your poof, beginning at the sides. You can also place a couple at the top of the poof allowing the extension to fall around to the side of the poof.
Arrange the decorative sticks, feathers and flowers into your hair as desired. Use a mirror to see the back and sides of your design to be sure the poof of hair is evenly spaced out and there are no holes in the arrangement.
Set the design with hairspray. Gently pat the arrangement with the palm of your hand to see if you have enough and to be sure that all areas of hair are well-covered with spray and securely set in place. Tousle your head to see how it feels. Your hair should be tightly held in place.
