Christmas is the time of year to not only spend with friends and family, but it is also an opportunity to enjoy Christmas lights, decorations and festivities. One way to spread holiday cheer is by decorating a tree with lights. Attaching strings of lights to the top of a pole will add some outdoor holiday fun. Here is a procedure for constructing a devise that can be attached to the top of a pole to make this easier to accomplish.

Instructions

  1. 1

Hold the bun foot vertically as you measure the thickness of the bun foot. Mark the centre with 4 to 8 dots around the circumference.

  2. 2

Apply a strip of masking tape to the wood surface. One side of the tape should line up with the dots. Draw a line with the pencil along the tape to connect the dots.

  3. 3

Hold one of the hooks with the top of it flush with the line that you drew. Trace the outline of the hook and mark where the screws will need to go. Continue this procedure around the entire bun foot. Christmas Light Show reminds that it is important that the outlines of the hooks are tightly flushed against each other, straight, and evenly distributed for them to fit properly.

  4. 4

Drill holes for the screws that you just marked and attach all the hooks to the bun foot with the screws.

  5. 5

Remove the threaded stud that sticks out from the bun foot if you want to modify it to add a star to this device. Christmas Light Show recommends that you drill a bigger hole to fit a 4cm (1/2-inch) PVC pipe in for the star that will extent upward.

  6. 6

Hold the metal flange to the bottom of the bun foot, centre it and mark where the four screws will go. Drill holes and attach the flange with the screws. The points of the hooks should be pointing up, and the flange should be on the bottom of the final product. The flange will attach to the top of the pole.

  7. 7

Attach the strings of lights to the hooks, stretch them out to your desired length and attach them to the ground evenly.
