One of the most useful office machines is a fax machine. A fax machine allows you to send documents printed on paper, such as forms, flyers, contact information or copies of deeds and titles to another fax machine by using the same lines that telephones use. You can also receive faxes sent from other fax machines. However, in order to send and receive faxes, you must first wire your fax machine to work.

  2. 2

Connect the telephone cable to the port on the telephone. Then connect the other end to the port on the fax machine with the "Out" label. This port may also have a picture of a phone on it.

  3. 3

Connect the other telephone cable to the port on the fax machine with an "L" icon. This port may also be marked with an "In" label. Connect the other end of the cable to the phone jack.

Tips and warnings

  • If possible, put the fax on its own phone line to keep it away from phones.
