Audio files that you have saved on your computer can be loaded onto your iPod and listened to using the device while you are away from your computer. You may own CDs that contain audio files you would like to listen to on your iPod. In order to load music from an audio CD onto your iPod, you will need to rip those audio files onto the computer using an audio software program that will convert the audio files into the proper format.

    Insert the CD into the computer.

    Open iTunes.

    Click the CD listed in the "Devices" category positioned on the left side of iTunes.

    Choose "Import Settings" at the bottom of the program and a window will open.

    Click the "Import Using" box near the top of the open window. You can select any of the available options as they're all compatible with iPods. Then, click "OK."

    Select "Import CD" next to the "Import Settings" button. The music will be added to iTunes.

    Eject the CD and plug the iPod into your computer via any of the USB connections on the computer.

    Click the "Music" option that's in the "Library" list on the left side of iTunes.

    Open the album that has the music you transferred from the CD to iTunes.

    Select each CD song you want to load onto the iPod and drag the music over to the iPod in the "Devices" list. The music will then be loaded on the iPod.
