There are several different muffin recipes that are made into muffins and/or sweet treats, such as mini cheesecakes, mini pies and mini cakes. There are also different sized pans used to bake these confections, three to be exact. There is the regular muffin pan, which fits about 12 muffins in the pan, there are jumbo muffin pans which can fit six jumbo muffins in the pan and there also is a mini muffin pan which holds up to 24 mini muffins in the pan. Baking times differ from one batch of muffins to another and it also varies for the size of muffins you bake.
Preheat oven as directed by your muffin recipe.
Mix ingredients according to muffin recipe.
Line mini muffin pan with the mini muffin liners, grease as directed.
Pour batter into the liners.
Place the muffin pan into the oven.
Set the timer for 8 minutes less than the recipe calls for. For instance, if the recipe calls for 30 minutes, set the timer for 22 minutes.
Begin checking the muffins when the timer goes off by sticking a toothpick into the thickest part of the muffin and pull it out. If the toothpick is clean, then the muffins are done.
Mini muffin pans call for a 5 to 8 minute decrease in cooking times. The full muffin recipe will typically make two mini muffin pans worth of muffins. If you only want one tray of mini muffins, cut your muffin recipe in half.
