Each Sony Blu-ray disc player comes with firmware pre-installed on the system. Over time, Sony will update the firmware for each player to increase the player's compatibility with other electronics and new technology, or to fix bugs in the firmware. You can upgrade your Blu-ray player with the latest firmware updates via your network router or Internet modem, or with a compact disc. There is no cost to obtain the latest firmware updates for your player.
