Download and install a free video converter program such as Prism Video Converter or AVC Video Converter. These video converter programs are freeware applications that allow you to convert video from one format to another.
Launch your application after completing the installation and click "Add" or "Add Files." Locate the MP4 video file you want to convert in the location in which you have it on your computer, and click "Open" to import it to the converter program.
Select "WMV" as your output format. Depending on the program, you can select "WMV" from the output format or profile window.
Select the output video size you want to use. Select the output quality settings. Select the audio codec you want to use. You can select from audio codecs such as MP3 or WMA. Select the audio bitrate. Select a minimum bitrate of 192Kbps if you want a higher quality audio output. Select "Stereo" or 2 channels for a balanced left and right audio output.
Click "Browse" and select the output folder in which to save the file. Click "Convert/Encode" to convert the file to WMV video format.
