How to Connect a DVD Player to a Computer Screen

DVD players need some sort of connected monitor to display the video signal created by the DVD movie. Although this is usually a television system it is possible to hook up a computer screen to the DVD player. Doing so does require an adaptor, but you are not going to lose any video quality when performing the connection.

  • Component to VGA cable adaptor

Instructions

  1. 1

    Attach the VGA end of the adaptor into the VGA connection port on the rear of the computer screen.

  2. 2

    Tighten the screws by hand found on the sides of the VGA connection. This secures the cable to the computer screen.

  3. 3

    Plug the red, green and red component ends of the adaptor into the "Component Out" ports on the back of the DVD player.

  4. 4

    Turn on the DVD player and the computer screen and the monitor displays the video created by the DVD movie.
