Personalised envelope seals are a great added touch to any mailing and are especially popular for formal event invitations, such as weddings. While there are stamps and wax sets available at craft stores, it's easy to add that custom touch to your invite or letter right at your own computer. Whether using round stickers or foil seals for your project, you'll be able to add images or a monogram to your seal with just a few clicks of your mouse.

  1. 1

Put an Avery round-sticker sheet or notary seal sheet (product number 5868) face down into your printer. Follow the instructions on the back of the product if you need help putting it in your printer correctly. Find these products at an office supply store or on Avery's website. (See Resources) Use Avery stickers because they're easily found at multiple stores in case you need more. The templates are also easy to find and free to download.

  2. 2

Open Microsoft Word and click "File" and "New." You will see a "Templates" section in the right-hand column after the document opens. Because the Avery template will most likely not already be loaded on your computer, type the word "Avery" and the product number (found in the upper corner of your Avery sticker package) into the search box provided.

  3. 3

Locate the sticker or notary seal template you need from the search list that pops up. If the product did not show up in the list, proceed to Step 4. If the product is there, proceed to Step 5 and click on the title and select "Download" so it shows up in your Word document.

  4. 4

Go to Avery's website and search for "notary seal" or "envelope seal" if your product didn't show up on the list. If you know the product number, you can also use that in your search. Locate the product in Avery's search results and click "View Templates" or "Download" (whichever is available). You'll need to enter some basic information to get the template for free from Avery. Downloading the template should open directly into a new Word document. You may now proceed to Step 5.

  5. 5

Edit your envelope seals by clicking on the boxes for each label/circle in the template. You may see "Type Text Here" or other sample text in the boxes provided on the template. Delete this sample text and type in your own. Format your text using the tools on the toolbar at the top of the page. For example, use the "Font" tool to change the font into a script font or make your font bold to make it easier to read on a small sticker.

  6. 6

Add photos or clip art to your labels by going to "Insert," then "Picture" and "Clip Art" to search for an image. You can also click "Word Art" instead of "Clip Art" to make a personalised monogram or other word to use on your seals. Use your own digital photo by clicking "Find File" instead of "Clip Art" and opening an image onto the document. Resize the image to fit the sticker using the four-corner dots on the image upon clicking it.

  7. 7

Print a copy of your envelope seals on the test paper inserted into the printer on top of the facedown Avery sheet. Once it has printed, ensure it matches and lines up correctly with the seals sheet by comparing the two. If no adjustments are needed, print another copy directly onto the Avery sheet in your printer.
