Marionette lines can be some of the toughest wrinkles to deal with. Also called laugh lines, these wrinkles appear around the mouth and chin, and most people who deal with them are not amused. While plastic surgery is an option for some, many people prefer safe and natural approaches to dealing with their lines and wrinkles.

Instructions

    Exercises

  1. 1

Sit comfortably in a chair with a medium to low back, so that you can tilt your head backward over the back of the chair. This is the starting position for most face exercises. Exercise strengthens the muscles in the face and encourages oxygen and nutrients to flow to that area, which results in less sagging and wrinkling.

  2. 2

Tilt your head back far enough that you are looking at the ceiling. Make a motion with your mouth as if you are chewing. Repeat for 20 minutes at least once per day for best results.

  3. 3

Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Purse your lips as if you are kissing someone. Purse and release 10 times, then bring your head back to a normal position. Repeat tilting and pursing five times, at least once per day.

  4. 4

Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Purse your lips as before. Stick out your tongue, and try to touch your chin with your tongue, stretching as far as you can go. Hold this position for a count of 10, then return to a normal position. Repeat five times, at least once per day.

  5. 5

Tilt your head back and look at the ceiling. Purse your lips and stretch your lower lip as far as possible above your upper lip. Hold this position for a count of five, then return to a normal position. Repeat five times, at least once per day.

    Products

  1. 1

Apply make-up concealer to your face to soften marionette lines. A soft, light-coloured concealer will reflect light, reducing the depth and intensity of laugh lines. Dab a little concealer onto your ring finger and smooth over lines, applying more as needed.

  2. 2

Bring attention to other areas of your face, which will reduce the look of marionette lines. Apply a smooth layer of light blush to your cheeks, starting in the centre of cheeks and blending outward to match the colour of the rest of your face. This will accentuate the roundness of your cheeks and draw attention away from your laugh lines.

  3. 3

Purchase a collagen-stimulating product from your health and beauty store or pharmacy. These products simulate the effects of plastic surgery by improving the strength and resilience of skin. Apply to your laugh lines according to the product directions.
